It has been two years since our tragedy that had left our community wounded. In those two years a lot has transpired, both at home in our own town and around the world. Through all of the destruction and wrong happening in the world, the Chardon community united and its heart grew. We were able to pick ourselves up and help each other through those hard times, and as the healing process took place, we were able to help other schools to overcome the similar tragedies that they too faced. Chardon even started their own chapter of Project Linus, an organization that makes blankets to help comfort people. On February 27th, we are taking the time to remember the ones we lost, so that we are reminded why we are one heart beat.
Dean Carlo, affiliated with Crave 631 youth ministries says, “We have experienced something that will forever be in our memory…prayer is action. Caring is action. “I hope this transforms our school into a model example of a school that truly cares for one another, not just for the month of February.” Those powerful words hold great meaning, so Chardon High School and crave 361 are having a hundred candle lantern launch on Thursday, February 27 in front of the high school. Dean encourages everyone to, “join as we remember, reflect and continue to heal together as a community.” This event will begin around 7 pm with hot chocolate and cookies provided and will include scripture, songs, and a lantern launch. This vigil will come to a close at around 8 pm with a prayer. All are invited and encouraged to take part in our healing process and remember why we are all here today.
