Leadership: Kyle Spear, the Man with One Thousand Words

Randy Davis, Editor-in-chief-#2

There are many kinds of students in this year’s senior class. Some are introverted, some are completely outgoing. A lot of people, although it may not seem like it, are followers. There are only a select number of leaders. Leaders are very important in our society; without them, nobody would get anything done! A mass of people, whether how big or small, listen and follow the leader’s ideas. It’s hard to pick one person to represent as our classes’ leader, however, many, including myself, believe that the right choice would be Kyle Spear. Kyle has always had an “in-charge” attitude, and being a very friendly guy definitely gives him an advantage. Now is a good time to take a deeper look into Kyle and see what makes him tick.

Born on October 6th, 1995, Kyle has always been a star. He took a liking to nature and music ever since he was little. Kyle has a very spiritual background and he often tends to get lost in his thoughts. He enjoys learning a lot through documentaries, and would sometimes be considered a conspiracy theorist, but only if facts support his beliefs. Kyle’s biggest project that he has tackled was developing Actively Caring for People (AC4P) and serving a large role in leading the group for the school and surrounding community. He has spoken about the principles of Actively Caring for People and the power that an individual’s behavior has over the shaping of society to several groups. He participated in a youth rally in Columbus, Ohio, a convention at NorwalkHigh School, Chardon City Council, and the Chardon Rotary Club. Kyle, and the AC4P group now frequently go down to the middle school to spread the message to seventh graders.

His work has been noticed by the school as well as the community. Senior Matt Morrissette said, “He’s a great guy; I’ve always appreciated what he did!” and senior Andrew Gray described him as “Free-spirited.”

Kyle’s personality is a major factor in him being such a leader. He stated, “It deals a lot with confidence in myself, due to good and bad experiences through opportunities that I have been given in my life.” But what is his real secret? Maybe senior Grant Mlack can help us with that one; he said, “Throughout the years I’ve known him, he has established himself as a leader through his actions and how he interacts with people.” Even Kyle said something along the same lines, “I take an interest in other people.” Kyle is very good at making other people feel involved in what they do. He focuses the center of attention on them instead of him, which is why he is such a good speaker, leader and role model.

“I believe that I have a grounded moral character and I value my integrity,” Kyle said, “I am very willing to listen to others, and I put myself in the shoes of others, and communicate in a way that’s relatable and puts value on them.”

Kyle’s plans for after high school are to attend OhioUniversity and study Business and Music Production. Right now, his plan is solid, but he added, “Whatever it is that God calls me to do to improve the lives of others, whether big or small, is what I will be doing.” Our world needs people like this. Kyle is not just a leader to follow, he is one to inspire others.
