The Sochi Olympics have been some of the most anticipated Olympics in the recent years. The conditions of Sochi have been a huge controversy because the athletes are complaining about the “gross” hotels and the fans are complaining about the restrooms and how two toilets are right next to each other. Another main reason why people are complaining is because they are worried about terrorist attacks during the events. There is a statistic in the Olympics called the medal count. Norway is dominating the Olympics at the moment with 12 medals. Canada (9) and the Netherlands (8) are third and fourth with USA in fifth with only 7. There a ton of events those athletes compete in, but there is one event that is considered one of the most popular events of all time. That event is called the snowboard half pipe. Twelve snowboarders from all around the world compete on a half pipe and do the worlds’ hardest tricks. This event is so popular because Shaun White participates in it. Shaun White is the most prolific snowboarder of all time.

             There are many more problems with the Olympics right now that are not close to being fixed. The weather right now is warmer than usual. The snow for the events is melting making it difficult to compete on. Russia is not the safest place to be either with terrorism attacks. “The Olympics have been kind of down this year and all the complaining about the athlete’s rooms and everything is getting annoying. I think they could have picked a better place for the Olympics to be held.” said senior Jason Janda The most important part of the Olympics is the opening ceremony, and the Russians Olympic rings malfunctioned. . Some people were not too happy about that. “I’ve watched the Olympics a little bit this year and from that I’ve seen so far I’m enjoying it. I do think they could of picked a better place to host the Olympics”, said senior Joey Fodor.

            There any many good things about the Olympics this year, but as you can tell there are many problems with it that people do not like. In my opinion, I don’t really like the Olympics so far and the setting was one of the worst venues to host them.
