Chardon Schools lost a great teacher to retirement in Mr. Johanek. But, the students and staff are welcoming a new History teacher this year. His name is Chad Murawski and he is teaching freshman History and a class of general Government.
Mr. Murawski was born and raised in Chesterland, Ohio. He attended WestGeaugaHigh School, where he graduated in 2007. In his time there, he excelled on both the football field and basketball court, and he lettered twice and was named all-conference in both sports. After high school, Mr. Murawski attended Ohio Wesleyan, where he was a part of The Fighting Bishops football team. While at Ohio Wesleyan, he was a three-year letterman as a defensive back and linebacker. As a junior, he led the Bishops with 105 tackles and was fourth in the North Coast Athletic Conference. Mr. Murawski graduated in 2011 with a degree in education.
After his college career, Mr. Murawski returned to his Alma Mater as a long-term substitute at West Geauga, and then he went to AuroraHigh School. So far, he has made a great impression on both teachers and students alike.
“He is an extremely hard worker,” responded History teacher Ms Grantham, “I have seen him at the high school after football practice is over, sometimes until nine in the evening. She added that, “Mr. Mosnik told me that he has seen him working on Saturdays all the time.”
When asked about their time in class with Mr. Murawski, seniors Trevor Marthe and Michael Chauby had nothing but positive things to say, “He is a fantastic teacher.” answered Marthe. “He is a hands-on type of teacher.” added Chauby. Both seniors agree on one thing, Mr. Murawski makes learning an enjoyable time!
Also, if you see him in the hallways, you would probably hear a football player or two call him “coach”. This is because he is one of the new freshman football coaches, replacing Mr. Bartley who is now coaching Girls Cross-Country. Also, he is a part of Mr. Snyder’s Basketball regime, joining on as the freshman basketball coach. When asked about Mr. Murawski at practice, freshman Justin Stanko talked about his new coach.
“Coach always gives everything he has at practice, trying to make us thy best players possible.” said Justin.
So let’s all give Mr. Murawski a warm Chardon Schools welcome as we move forward this year.
